Grandson Mwanza

Director of Youth Development

Grandson and Jessica Mwanza met each other in January 2019, while both were working for a special need’s ministry in Zambia. They were married in 2021 and had their first son in 2024. Although we had different areas of expertise- Grandson having a background in sociology and Jessica in speech-language pathology, our mutual calling to serve children and families who are most vulnerable to economic, social, and spiritual poverty drew us together. As a couple, we dreamed that one day we may work together in ministry to impact the lives of those God holds near and dear to his heart.

As individuals, but also as a couple, God has laid a calling upon our hearts to serve the most vulnerable and at-risk populations in our region. Our vision as a couple is guided by what we believe the Bible says about kingdom building and our responsibility to those around us in this world. We believe in raising up a purpose-driven generation that is a vessel for the Lord in our home, community, and world. We do this by being committed to helping others live a life that God desires for all mankind- love and obedience to God and to love your neighbor (Matthew 22:37-39).

We believe that God desires the upcoming generation to be built strong and courageous, forging ahead the narrow path of relationship with God. God has a plan and a purpose for college aged students, no matter their background or challenges. Our communities are only as strong as the weakest among them. We desire to help walk alongside first-generation college students and single-parent households so that they may be strengthened to glorify the Lord in all that they do. This belief is what has drawn us to the mission of The Unpaved Road.
